# How to block production output's based on QC test results

_By Francesca Firth · Nov 15, 2024_

You can prevent users from being able to record outputs in production based on the results of QC tests.

This feature is currently only available for QC tests with numeric metrics.

1. On a **Recipe** or a **Planned Process** Add a QC test with a numeric metrics.

2. At the end of the line showing the QC test select to Edit Expectations.

3. Switch the Toggle for **“Block Outputs if value entered is outside of expected range?”**

4. Define what the Expected Minimum and Maximum Values for the results of this QC test should be.

5. Save

Once set up, outputs from processes that use these QC tests will be blocked unless a value is entered that sits between the Expected Minimum and Maximum values.
In this case you will see:

- A warning message when recording the result

Once a QC test which is between the expected values is entered the block on outputs will be lifted.
