Below you will find guides with all the information you ill need to get up and running with all the features in BrewMan.

How To: UK Duty Rate Update

Preparing BrewMan for February Duty Changes

All UK producers eligible for Small Producer Relief (SPR) will need to enter their Annual Ethanol Production into BrewMan for between 1st February to 31st January of the previous year so that any changes to their duty rate can be calculated for the period following 1st February.

However, HMRC have also clarified that any new rate will only apply to SPR products produced after 1st February and not to old SPR stock produced before this date, including alcohol in duty suspense. Any SPR products produced before 1st February will be charged at the previous rate.

BrewMan V7 will automatically sell SPR stock on a first-in, first-out basis, applying the old rate until stock of products produced before the deadline has cleared. This can be overwritten on an order if newer stock is specifically chosen by editing the product line.

Please ensure you have accurate stock counts going into this new duty period on the software so that the software knows how many items should be sold at the previous duty rate.

Calculating HLPA

You will need to calculate the hectolitres of pure alcohol you have packaged for the period between Feb 1st 2023 and Jan 31st 2024.

This can be done by going into DutyAlcohol Production Totals. Here the system will calculate the volume of alcohol produced within the period as seen below:

Alternatively, you can view the Production Summary Table report found by going to ReportingProductionPresentSummary Table.

Please contact support if you have any queries regarding this.

Entering your HLPA into the software

Please note this differs if you have migrated from BrewMan version 6 to version 7.

If you have not migrated from BrewMan version 6:

  • First, go to Administration > Your Company > Company Setup.

  • Here you can click Edit and add your Annual Ethanol Production figure.

If you have migrated from BrewMan version 6:

  • If you have migrated from BrewMan version 6, you should add your Annual Ethanol Production to your Supplier record.

  • This can be found by going to Contacts > Suppliers, you would then click your own company.  Once inside of the supplier record, you can click Edit you will be able to enter your figure with an effective date of February 1st.

Capturing Stock Levels at the start of the Duty Period

At the start of February, you will be able to see your stock levels of items produced on the old duty rate by going to Duty → Old Duty Stock List.

Sales will deplete these stock levels based on a first-in-first-out basis.

Amendments to these stock counts can be made on the Old Duty Stock List by clicking the 3 dots next to an item and then editing the quantity. This is in case any item has the wrong stock level at the start of the new duty period.

We recommend doing a Stock Take before the 1st February so that the menu displays the correct stock levels on 1st February.

Editing the rate of duty incurred on an order

As SPR products produced before 1st February will be charged at the previous rate BrewMan will automatically sell SPR stock on a first-in, first-out basis, applying the old rate until stock of products produced before the deadline has cleared. This can be overwritten on an order if newer stock is specifically chosen.

To do this on an order, you will need to edit and order and then click the 3 dots next to an order line. From here you will be able to edit the duty rate of production as seen below:
